Notes on the conversion
- YAML is parsed with the YAML 1.2 core schema (js-yaml, MIT). That means
yes/no/onstay strings and are not turned into booleans, which avoids the classic "Norway problem". - A YAML file with several documents separated by
---becomes a JSON array with one item per document. - Comments and anchors do not survive the trip to JSON, because JSON has no way to express them. Anchors and aliases are expanded into copies.
- Strings that would be misread (for example
"08"or"true") are quoted in the YAML output.

Why does my GitHub Actions "on:" key look odd?
In YAML 1.1, the bare word on could mean true. This converter uses YAML 1.2 rules, so on: stays the string key "on", which is also how GitHub reads it.
